Delete your account & data

You can permanently delete your Tonight account and everything tied to it, at any time. Here's how — whether you still have the app or not.

1. Delete from inside the app (fastest)

Open Tonight and go to Settings → Account → Delete account, then confirm. This permanently removes your account and all your data — your nights, reflections, and settings — and can't be undone.

The deletion runs immediately on our servers: your account is erased and everything linked to it is removed along with it.

2. If you never created an account (anonymous / device-only)

Tonight works without sign-up, so many people use it as an anonymous, device-only account. Deleting works exactly the same way: Settings → Account → Delete account removes that device account and its data. If you can still open the app, use that button. If you no longer have the app or the device, use the request path below.

3. Request deletion without the app

Lost access to the app or your device? Send us a deletion request and we'll erase your account and data for you. Use the form below (reason “Account Deletion”) or email us directly. So we can find the right account, please write from the email you signed up with, or tell us the Apple/Google sign-in you used.

You can also email us directly at support@tonightforyou.com

4. What gets deleted, and what we must keep

Deleting your account permanently removes everything associated with it, including:

  • your profile, name, and preferences
  • your ritual and session history, ratings, and feedback
  • your theme tags and any monthly reflection summaries
  • any reflections you chose to keep, and generated audio

Most of what you write is already short-lived by design. For reference, our retention windows are:

  • Reflections (what you write) — by default deleted at the next sunrise in your timezone; if you turned on Keep My Nights, kept for 45 nights, then they fade.
  • Theme tags — 45 days. Monthly reflection summaries (no text) — 13 months.
  • Payment records — kept for 7 years where the law requires it (handled by Apple, Google, and our payment processor), separate from your in-app data.

Full detail is in our Privacy Policy. Subscriptions are billed by the App Store or Google Play — deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; cancel it in your store settings (see our Terms).
